Abstraction & Texture

This week's assignment is the last assignment before the midterm. The assignment is to shoot 30 photos of textural surfaces, and 30 photos of abstractions. This may sound straightforward or easy, but once you get to shooting the photos, it is sometimes difficult to find what you're looking for. Textural surfaces are fun to me, I am always observing different textures and I enjoy photographing interesting ones. Finding objects to create an abstract photograph with is a bit more difficult for me. I seem to have a bit of trouble when it comes to finding the right angle, or composition, to make the photo both abstract and interesting to look at.

Here are some of my favorites that I took over this past weekend. For the first one, I was trying to take inspiration from Harry Callahan's photo that we were shown in class. While mine certainly isn't as interesting, it still reminds me of Callahan's photograph.
