The Decisive Moment

To describe this assignment, I'll share a definition of "the decisive moment"from petapixel.com:
The decisive moment is a concept made popular by the street photographer, photojournalist, and Magnum co-founder Henri Cartier-Bresson. The decisive moment refers to capturing an event that is ephemeral and spontaneous, where the image represents the essence of the event itself.
I definitely struggled a bit with this. I wasn't sure of how to find interesting events or situations. I looked at photos from the NYC Street Photography Collective on instagram, and honestly I don't know how those photographers do it! They make it look so easy. I went to Astoria and tried standing on the sidewalk and taking photos of people walking by me. I get nervous when I have to photograph strangers.  I felt good about having actually done it, but me being nervous definitely inhibited me from capturing some more interesting moments.
We had 2 weeks to do this project, so I felt it made sense to take as many photos as I could and choose from what I had. I went to the Wyandanch train station, as well as the Babylon train station. I have always liked trains, and the different people you encounter at a train station.
I am still not finished, but here are some of the photos I felt had some tension in the moment I took them.
